Race Across the UK

Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity

Background

We began collaborating with Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) towards the end of 2024 to develop an exciting new fundraising challenge for 2025.

As the principal charity of the Royal Navy, RNRMC provides vital support to serving personnel, veterans and their families. To date, they’ve distributed over £100 million to organisations that care for these communities.

The Brief

RNRMC wanted to create a dynamic new fundraising challenge inspired by the popular BBC show ‘Race Across the World’. The proposition: 50 teams consisting of two people race against each other from Scotland to Dartmouth, navigating checkpoints along the way with only limited funds, public transport and their own resourcefulness to see who finishes first.

Our role was the bring this vision to life while ensuring the event honoured RNRMC’s military heritage and appealed to both their core supporters and a wider cold audience.

The Work

While we explored various creative names, the simplest option proved the strongest – and Race Across the UK was born!

We then refined the event proposition, addressing key details that would influence sign ups, for example, logistical elements of the challenge such as budget amount and accommodation, ensuring there was familiarity for RNRMC’s existing audience.

With a strong concept in place, our design team got to work. We developed multiple creative routes, making the final selection a tough decision for RNRMC. The chosen design reflects the energy and adventure of the event by including a bold Race Across the UK logo incorporating the Union Jack and UK outline, set in RNRMC’s brand colours. We used imagery of people in motion, capturing the race’s energy and intensity and added iconic UK landmarks representing the journey, bringing the challenge to life.

The Results

With sign-ups now live, RNRMC is on track to fill all participant spots. We’re excited to see the race unfold when the challenge kicks off in September 2025!
